You can live longer and enjoy your family if you care for your heart. Control your blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol. High levels of blood sugar may, from time to time, damage vital organs such as kidneys, eyes and heart.

High blood pressure is a serious disease that makes your heart work harder. Bad cholesterol, or LDL, builds and clogs arteries. Controlling these three factors may have a longer and healthier lives. Ask the doctor:

  • What are the results of measurements of blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol?
  • What should be the ideal figure?
  • What should I do to reach those levels?

You are the heart of the family caring for your heart. You can live longer and enjoy your family, improve their health and reduce risk of heart disease. Act now:

  • Eat more fruits, vegetables and grains.
  • Eat foods with less salt and less fat.

Make at least 30 minutes of physical activity five days a week. Physical activity helps you maintain a healthy weight.

  • Stop smoking – seek help to quit smoking.
  • Take medications as prescribed by your doctor.
  • Ask your doctor whether to take aspirin.
  • Ask your family and friends to help treat heart disease and diabetes.
